Have a question?

Our guests in Pathway/Bridge are disabled and are living on a fixed social security income. Since they are unable to work, we ask our guests in Pathway/Bridge at the Gateway Women and Children’s Center to do a Service Project every morning to help them feel valued. Service projects are things like cleaning toys in our childcare or assembling welcome packs for our new guests.

We asked this question of a guest in our Pathway/Bridge Program that moved out on Monday.

So, what has Gateway Mission done for you?
They gave me shelter when I had none.
They gave me help that I didn’t know I needed.

I could go on and on about my stay here. All I know is….
I am valued
I am loved
I am a better woman than I was.

Thank you, Gateway Mission, because with the help of awesome staff, I learned…

I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and God is always with me.

Happy Independence Day! This special day we remember and celebrate the freedom we have in Jesus and the gift of freedom he has granted us in the United States of America. Today especially, we honor the veterans and first responders who make this freedom possible! 🇺🇸

Acts 13: "Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin."

Thank you Fellowship Church VBS 🥳

The boys and girls attending VBS at Fellowship Church last week brought out their competitive side. In a girls vs. boys competition, they raised over $7,800 to support Gateway Mission!

Those pennies and dimes DO matter! We are so thankful!

A female guest who has been in our emergency shelter for a little over a week, came to the residential office to ask if I could pray with her. We prayed for God to ease her anxiety for an upcoming appointment. Afterwards she told me that she is so thankful for all the staff here at Gateway Women and Children Center and that we are all very kind. She also said that she has spoken more to God in the past 8 days than she has throughout most of her life.

Beginning at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 17, Gateway Mission is offering emergency cooling centers. The Gateway Men’s Center and the Gateway Women and Children’s Center will be open for unsheltered families and individuals. Due to the expected ongoing heat, its anticipated cooling centers will continue throughout the week. If you or someone you know is in need of a cool shelter, please direct them to Gateway Mission.

Gateway Mission will offer Emergency Cooling Centers from 8 AM – 8 PM beginning June 17, at 12:00 PM.

Gateway Men’s Center: 166 S River Ave, Holland MI 49423

Gateway Women and Children’s Center: 356 Fairbanks Ave, Holland MI 49423

In addition, anyone in need of overnight emergency shelter is encouraged to check in and remain at Gateway Mission through these dangerous conditions.

We are thankful for our highly trained team who is ready 24/7 to provide safe/cool shelter, showers, food and water to men, women, and children who come to us in need.

From one of our moms who came into Open Door and then moved to Pathway. She is an example of how this works if our guests are all in and want our help. She just moved into an apartment with her three children! Praise God!

“I want to personally thank you all for what you have done for me and my kids. Each and everyone of you ladies hold a special place in my heart. You all have gone above and beyond for all of us! You all go through so much in a day with all the women at the shelter, but you do it with a smile. 😊 I’m so thankful you all accepted my son’s hugs. He changed so much in childcare that he learned to love everyone and to give hugs. His favorite thing to say is “Jesus died for my sins!” Learning that in childcare was such a bittersweet feeling! My other two children are going to miss you too. They pretend to be the resident staff LOL. I know they will very much be interested in what we could do to still be a part of the shelter to help. I’m going to figure that out.

I wrote this so you all know how much I appreciate you all and how much love we want to show you all! Thank you for everything.

Happy Mother`s Day from us at Gateway Mission!

Today we pray for the Mothers at our Women`s Center and in our Forge and Thrive Programs. We give thanks for their desire to change not only their future, but their children`s future by God`s grace!

Although this day can be difficult for many – those who have lost mothers, for those who have lost children, and for those who desire to be mothers, we give thanks to God for his overwhelming faithfulness! 💜

Psalm 139:13-14: "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother`s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."

For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him. 2 Samuel 22:29-31
