Recognizing that lack of childcare is a significant barrier to moving forward for mothers with children, we offer childcare to participants in our Pathway and Gateway programs. Without childcare they often cannot get the help they need to overcome life’s challenges.
Gateway Childcare was created to be a service to moms with children living in our shelter. We are a state-licensed childcare facility accepting children birth-12 years housed at Gateway Mission. Our mission is to provide children a loving, quality, learning environment that shows them the love of Christ. We are passionate about teaching each child not only the curriculum but about God’s plan for their life and how to love one another as God loves us.
Childcare Schedule and Program Offerings:
- Hours: Monday-Friday | 7am-5pm
- Michigan state-licensed facility
- Newly installed outdoor play structure
- State of the art classroom furniture
- Great Start to Quality stars program
- Follow state-mandated ratios and have age-appropriate activities
Sample Daily Schedule Includes:
Group time
Time of the day where we will together and talk about the activities of the day, sing songs, talk about the weather and calendar. Read a story about our theme.
Center time
Children play and explore on their own or work together on a theme-related activity led by a teacher.
Outdoor Play
It is time to go outside! Exploring the outside with group activities.
Bible Time
Children will engage in a Bible story and verse based on the theme as well as an activity to go with the story.
Rest Time
Children can nap or select different quiet activities, such as looking at books or playing with puzzles.
